Journal entry: 6
     

      Today is December 5^th and this is my 6^th blog post. It has been quite long that I haven’t really updated my blog. In these couple of weeks we have managed to do a lot new things even though we had such a long break thanks to the scarc.

    Form me this couple of weeks of theatre classes have been the best.

We started with our presentation on the collaborative theatre company we were each given some company to present on. This was supposed to do done long time back but due to the heavy schedule we had to shift it.  Every body presented their assigned theatre company and had done a great job. This collaborative theatre presentation definitely helped us get better ideas and understand of how different Theatre Company’s work. 

    Before the scarc holiday we were assigned to read a chapter about realism. After reading it I really understood the concept and got a better understanding about theatre. We also had a quiz on it.

     We have also began our collaborative project where we in a group of 3 to 5 make our own play. The first day we were suppose to go around the class and talk about our skills, experiences so we would decide who would fit best in our group.  In my group I have Divina, Sadish, Kashyap and myself. I am looking forward to have a great time and preform a well. Firstly as all of us had brought our stimulus we shared and talked about it. We as a group finally selected our stimulus, which is song - give me love by Ed shreen.  

   We then researched about our stimulus, shared it with our group members.  We came up with different ideas and exercises that would help to achieve a better performance. We talked about our target audience and our intentions for the play. It quite confusing for us as we couldn’t really decide who are target audience was. We finally decided that our target audience would be teenagers and young adults.

      After the entire thing was decided we started to explore our exercises. We started by discussing what we would do in our paly and what was our theme.

We then started by doing our exercise, which was the mirror exercise.

    We have not completely decided what are we exactly going to do but we are coming up with great ideas. I love this project as we all are getting to share our ideas with my group and preform our own theatre.

     I hope all of us do a great job and also have a great time working on this project. 

                                     Journal entry:5

   Today is November 14^th and this is my 5^th post in my blog that is being posted 17 day    after my fourth blog  post. These 17 days of theatre classes were amazing and very interesting.  We are in the verge of finishing the play streetcar named desire by TennesseeWilliam.

    The play is very fascinating, exciting and very attention grabbing as when I would finished reading one chapter I did not like to stop rather I would get was so curios to know wants going to happy next and wanted to read continuously.  The language of the play was very simple. As we were assigned to read each chapter day by day and  we would have class discussion of the chapter’s we read. What we understood, liked, disliked were discussed by everyone in the class. Everybody had different opinions and thoughts but we always have great time-sharing it. There are only about 2-scene left for the play to get over. I am quite unhappy the play is going to finish, as it has been my favorite play till date. The assignments were given such, as soliloquy, dialog making and blocking were very enjoyable and interesting. The games we played during our double period are fun as always it really does warm up our body and makes us fresh. Divina, Aayushma and me had gone to watch a play named Tappu, which was presented in shilpee theatre. At first the play was quite unclear as it was very complicated but as the play preceded it started to become a bit clear and understandable. The set was so eye catching as it was so vibrant and stunning. The lighting and sound very faultless, as they added more live and reality in the play.  After understanding the story I did like it. I very touched by the play to  see children being a part of the play and enjoying it so much.

In these 17 days I feel that I have accomplished to become more open as I have started to share my opinion and ideas with the class without hesitating. I surely love discussing about the chapter we read. As a class we are all getting along well. Most of have started to become more open and sharing while some still need to but might be they will too as time passed by. 

Ullens School IB department is going present a play around February so the auditions  were held last week. Miss rose was the judge and Kim and I were helping her arranging everything as we have been assigned the assistant directors.There was re-audition again to finalize the characters. On 14^th November we had the read through we first did some warming exercise that were very entertaining and then we started to read through. I would like to congratulate all the people who have been selected. In the read through the people who had been selected had to read the roles they had been selected in. I would like to thank Miss rose for giving me the opportunity of being the assistant directory. As being a theatre student I would definitely increase my knowledge and understanding towards theater. It is very different for me as I had never  been the assistant director before and this  gives me an opportunity to look at theatre in a very different way than before. 

                                                        Journal entry: 4

           
     Today is November 3^rd and this my 4^th blog post. It has been posted 16 days after my 3^rd blog post. In these 16 days of theatre class we have done a lot of new things.    
        We have started a new play which is A street car named desire by Tennessee Williams. We have covered 2 scenes so far. I enjoyed reading both the scenes it is very attention grabbing and exciting. We were assigned reflections for both the scenes. During the theatre class I really liked conversation we have about the scenes of the play, how everyone shared their ideas of they think of the play, the characters the meaning of different lines of the play. After completing the discussion of both the scene. We formed groups of three or four and each group was assigned a part form act 2 and we had to perform it. We were given 2 theater classes to practice how we would present it to the class. We were divided in six groups. In my group I had divina and Aditya. Aditya was acting a Stanley, Divina as Blanche and I was the director. We had got the flirt moment where Blanche tries to flirt with Stanley. I was with my partners for this assignment as Divina and Aditya are very welcoming and helpful. I think that the both act very well and that they are very confident too. All the six groups had performed well but there is always room for improvement. Every one was confident. While the acts were presented we also had to give feedbacks. We discussed about the feedbacks after all the acts were presented. Everyone gave their suggestion what they liked or disliked or if we missed anything or gave guidance for improvement. Our act did get good complements and our mistakes too were pointed out which we will surely improve if we get a chance again. I think this activity is very helpful to gain confidence as we are getting a chance to speak in front of everybody. The good point about doing this activity as we are studying this play am sure scene 2 will be the most easy to recall and understand as all the acts presented by my friends we very clear. I had a great time working with divina and Aditya.
        It is also beneficial and a type of practice for the ones who are auditioning this Monday for the paly check please.These two scenes were very easy to understand as
simple language has been used, the 1^st play we had studied was Antigone, which was very complicated comparing this one.  I am very excited about this play and I am hoping that the other scenes are more interesting 
   The theater classes were good and I enjoyed them. I thank miss Rose for making our classes very interesting. Hope to have good ones ahead too.
